For many years, the only available technique required removing a scalp-strip from the posterior region of the head.
This strip was then divided into small grafts under optical magnification and transplanted into the recipient area.
Once the donor hair is removed, a suture is implemented and the surrounding hair is used to help conceal or camouflage the sutured area.
While the extracted strip is being prepped for transplantation, most of our patients relax catching up on the news, reading, texting...etc

For many years, the only available technique required removing a scalp-strip from the posterior region of the head. This strip was then divided into small grafts under optical magnification and transplanted into the recipient area.
This technique is still widely used worldwide and, although very effective, it has some drawbacks. It is an invasive surgical technique that leaves a linear scar on the back of the head. This procedure requires sutures or stitches to close the wound. This wound needs special care, and the procedure causes 2 to 3 days of moderate pain. Furthermore, the recovery time is long, sutures have to be removed after 10 days, and patients are unable to exercise for 1 month. Also, certain areas of the head might experience numbness and patients might feel a “pull” in the donor area for 1 to 3 months.Besides that, patients need to keep hair longer than 2 cm in order to camouflage a linear scar.
